Super Eagles need more media support – Sanusi

Mohammed Sanusi, the General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), on Thursday appealed for media support for the Super Eagles as they resume their campaign for qualification for major events.
Sanusi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the media needed to report positive issues which could encourage the players and push them to winning ways.
“The media stands between the players and fans but when the players realise that reports on them are only negative it discourages them.
“When the players know that they are being supported at home, they will give their all in a match and that is what we all want to see,’’ he said.
The General Secretary also advised the senior national team not to underrate any side in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
NAN reports that the Super Eagles will take on the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Uyo on Saturday in a Group A match of the 2019 AFCON Qualifiers.

No tension in Kaduna, say govt, police

Kaduna State government and the police yesterday dispelled rumour of tension. There had been rumour from outside the state since Monday that Kaduna was on fire, making relations of residents to phone their loved ones. Ajimobi flags off N70bn Ibadan Circular Road construction

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, on Friday flagged off the construction of the Ibadan Circular Road estimated to cost about N70 billion, which will boost the socio-economic development and transportation system in the state. Speaking at the flag-off held at Badeku Village in Ona-Ara Local Government Area, the governor said the 32km first phase of the 110km road would be completed within 18 months. He said the first phase of the project, which would start from Badeku Village and end at Ajanla Village on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, representing the Northeast corner of the project, was awarded to the ENL Consortium Limited. According to the governor, the project will be financed through a facility sourced from the Nexim Bank of China by the contractor on a “Build, Operate and Transfer“ arrangement between the ENL and the state government. Herbalist nabbed for ‘preparing charms’

Forty-seven-year-old Akugbe Aisevbo, a herbalist, has been arrested by Edo State Police Command for allegedly preparing charms for human traffickers, to enable their victims travel abroad. The charms are also to make them successful. Aisevbo, who was paraded with 55 suspects at the command headquarters, said Arthur Ogbevoen asked them to assist two girls travelling to Burkina Faso. He denied shaving the pubic hair or making love to his victims. Aisevbo said: “When he brought the girls, I told him one of them has a problem and she should not be allowed to travel, but Ogbevoen insisted I worked on both. “So, I bathed the two girls and gave them concoction. DR Congo militia attack kills 28 in eastern region

Three Congolese soldiers and 25 militiamen were killed after fighting in the east of the Republic of the Congo, the army on Tuesday said. The fighting took place in Beni territory in North Kivu province from Saturday to Monday. Army Spokesman, Jules Ngongo said the militiamen had tried to take the village of Kabasha. They also ambushed UN peacekeepers, said Daniel Ruiz from the UN mission in Congo. Two Nepalese and three Tanzanian peacekeepers were injured. The army did not identify the militia group, but it identified itself as the National Movement for the Revolution. The new movement wants to force President Joseph Kabila to organise elections by the end of the year, its spokesman, John Mangaiko, said. Mangaiko accused the army of starting the fighting. Kabila postponed elections due in November, in what his critics saw as an attempt to extend his rule beyond the constitutional two-term limit. Accident, Investigation Bureau (AIB) Commissioner Akin Olateru  has urged members of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) to be more professional in the discharge of their duties.
