Police nab two suspected killers of student

The police in Ondo State have arrested two suspects, who allegedly kidnapped and killed a female student of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, for rituals.
The command said yesterday it had arrested two of the suspects, who allegedly used the student for money rituals.
The student was declared missing by her friends days after she reportedly left home.
Luck ran out on the suspects after one of them was nabbed in a robbery, during which it was discovered he and others were linked to the kidnap of the student.
This led to the arrest of another suspect. The third is at large.
Confirming the incident, police spokesman Femi Joseph said the mutilated and decomposing body of the student had been recovered by detectives, who are grilling the suspects.
He said the suspects would be arraigned after investigation and advised parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards.

Senate gives NPA four days for information on 282 missing vessels

The Senate on Thursday, gave the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Usman, four days to explain the whereabouts of over 282 vessels allegedly missing from the sea ports. Sen. Hope Uzodinma, Chairman, Senate’s Joint Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff and Marine Transport, gave the ultimatum in Abuja, at an investigative hearing on N30 trillion lost through leakages in Customs and other agencies. Uzodinma, who expressed displeasure with the managing director for not honouring the committee’s two previous invitations, said the information on the vessels was imperative and must be available within four days. NIMC chief faults identification system

Impact of $3b bond on debt ’ll be modest

T he Federal Government’s plan to issue USD3 billion worth of foreign bonds of up to three years maturity to refinance maturing naira-denominated treasury bills, if approved, will have a modest impact on broad debt sustainability indicators, experts at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC Nigeria) have said. In line with Federal Government’s debt management strategy to rebalance its debt portfolio for domestic and foreign debt, from the current 69 per cent: 3 1 per cent to a targeted 60per cent: 40 per cent, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) recently approved a plan to issue USD3 billion worth of foreign bonds of up to three years maturity to refinance maturing naira-denominated treasury bills. Homes submerged in Lagos, Suleja, Ibadan Ikoyi, Lekki, others thrown into darkness Floods hit many Nigerian cities after long hours of rainfall at the weekend. There were deaths. Homes were  flooded. Eleven people died in Suleja and other towns in Niger State. Many parts of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, were flooded.
