2019: Katsina APC endorses Buhari, Masari for second term

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday got the nod for a second term in office from the All Progressive Congress (APC), in his home state of Katsina.
The party also endorsed  Governor  Aminu Masari for a second term.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of the State Executive Council of the party.
Its chairman, Alhaji Shittu S.Shittu, reading from a communiqué, said the decisions were unanimous and based on the performances of the President and the governor.
The party commended the federal government for “its resolute fight against corruption, war against insecurity, kidnapping, Boko Haram, armed banditry etc, and for taking positive steps in moving the economy forward.
Masari was similarly hailed   for  running “a transparent administration, open door policy and wonderful achievements recorded within the short period of two years of his administration in areas of education, agriculture, health, security, water supply and infrastructural development and empowerment of the good people of the state.”

Court adjourns hearing on EFCC’s bid to seize Diezani’s houses

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday adjourned till September 22 hearing of an application for final forfeiture of 58 houses allegedly belonging to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke. She allegedly bought the houses between 2011 and 2013 for $21,982,224 million (N3, 320,000,000 billion). Listed as first to sixth respondents in the suit are – Mrs. Alison-Madueke, Donald Chidi Amamgbo and four firms – Chapel Properties Limited, Blue Nile Estate Limited, Azinga Meadows Limited and Vistapoint Property Development Limited. Justice Chuka Obiozor adjourned to enable the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) respond to an objection filed by one of the respondents. The Commission’s lawyer, A. Kaduna declares KASU-ASUU strike unlawful

Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State on Friday declared as unlawful the strike embarked on by the Kaduna State University (KASU) branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). According to a statement by the Governor’s Spokesman, Mr Samuel Aruwan, the KASU branch of ASUU confirmed that the branch had joined the nation-wide strike as full members of the national union. WFP chief calls for more efforts to overcome crisis in Northeast

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Executive Director David Beasley has hailed the massive and joint push by Nigerian authorities and humanitarian workers to save lives in the Northeast part of the country. Ajimobi flags off N70bn Ibadan Circular Road construction

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, on Friday flagged off the construction of the Ibadan Circular Road estimated to cost about N70 billion, which will boost the socio-economic development and transportation system in the state. Speaking at the flag-off held at Badeku Village in Ona-Ara Local Government Area, the governor said the 32km first phase of the 110km road would be completed within 18 months. He said the first phase of the project, which would start from Badeku Village and end at Ajanla Village on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, representing the Northeast corner of the project, was awarded to the ENL Consortium Limited. Workers get rice as strike dulls activities at BUK, UNILAG

Non-academic activities at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Bayero University, Kano (BUK) have been suspended as all the non-academic members of staff of the universities obeyed the call by their national unions to embark on a nationwide industrial action which started Monday. Since then, members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), National Association for Academic Technology (NAAT) and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of both institutions, under the Joint Action Committee (JAC), have only held meetings or forced their colleagues out of offices in a bid to enforce the strike.
