I’m not in competition with anybody – Francis Odega


Popular comedian Francis Odega, who is currently working on a TV series, has said he is not in competition with anybody, as regards comic TV series.
“I have my project that is ongoing, and it is called ‘Gerrahea’ TV series, that stars people like Omo Baba, Chigurl, myself and a whole lot more,” said Odega.
“So, it is hitting your screen sooner than later.”
On taking after the footsteps of Funke Akindele popular series, Jenifa’s Diary, the actor said: “I wouldn’t say I am taking after her. I am at the moment focused at giving what I am called to give. Before Funke, there (was) somebody there. So, what is the need looking at any other person when I can break the grounds.
“It is not a competition, I am not competing with anybody, and I am just here to entertain people. So if the audience prefer mine to hers, it is better. But the truth is we are not even in the same categories, I am not doing her style, I am coming out with a complete different style. So I am not competing with anyone, I am just here to entertain people. I am very confident we are taking over”.
The actor, who started his acting career way back in the 80s, while in secondary school, is best known for a hilarious video clip of him which went viral and circulated the Internet, which secured endorsement deals and recognition from home and abroad.

Police declare senator as deserter

•Misau denies allegation The police yesterday declared Senator Isa Misau, a former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), as a deserter from the force. $14.1b forex deals attract investors

Foreign investors’ confidence in the economy is rising. The feat is attributed to the $14.1 billion combined foreign exchange (forex) deals from the Investors’ & Exporters’ FX Window – I&E FX Window- and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN’s) weekly dollar interventions,  The Nation  has learnt. The I&E FX Window has since April attracted $7.6 billion foreign investors’ cash into the economy. The CBN has injected nearly $6.5 billion into the economy within the period to settle forex obligations mainly at the retail end of the market. Last week, the CBN, in its drive to sustain the improved dollar liquidity, injected $100 million into the Secondary Market Intervention Sales (SMIS) for spot and short tenored forwards not exceeding 60 days. The forex rates across all segments traded within a tight band. At the official market, the naira opened at N305.70/$1 and closed at N305.80/$1 due to daily interventions by the CBN. ELON MUSK: SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM X (FORMERLY TWITTER) MAY OPERATE BEHIND A PAYWALL

  Elon Musk has suggested that all users of X, formerly called Twitter, may have to pay for access to the platform. In a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the billionaire said a payment system was the only way to counter bots. "We're moving to having a small monthly payment for use of the system," the Tesla and SpaceX boss said. The BBC approached X for further details but has not yet received a statement from the company. Pa Ayobolu, father of Segun Ayobolu, an editor and columnist with The Nation newspaper,  transited to glory on May 31, 2017 at the age of 81. ONDO STATES GOVERNMENT TO POWER PUBLIC HOSPITAL WITH SOLAR ENERGY

  The  Office of the Public Utilities ( OPU) in Ondo State says it has concluded plans to power the 23 general hospitals in  the state  with solar energy.
