Sound Sultan, Seyi Law, others to grace Voices of Hope Awards


Musical taliban Sound Sultan, Timi Dakolo, Nosa, Soma of Big Brother and comedians Seyi Law, ATM and Ball Joint are among artistes set to grace the Voices of Hope Awards which will hold at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos on Friday, September 29, 2017.
The awards which is part of events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dignity For The Helpless Foundation (DHF), a non-governmental organisation, which was founded in 2006 by Samuel Brown, a musician, pastor and author. DHF was set up to care for less privileged members of the society.
According to the co-ordinator of the awards, Ebitari David, 50 Nigerians who have showed care to Nigerians would be presented with an Appreciation Award in 12 different categories.
DHF organises its activities within five pillars which include Healthcare Assistance, Youth Empowerment, Social Development, Poverty Alleviation and Legal Help Help Support.
Through this, the NGO with the slogan, ‘passion to serve,’ has intervened in assisting less privileged Nigerians without the sponsorship of of government or corporate bodies.
“My reason for living is to put smiles on people,” said Brown who is a pastor of New Life Amazing Grace Church, Sha-sha, Lagos and has a single, titled ‘Na Grace.’
Some other monthly and quarterly events which are organised by DHF include ‘Becoming an Entrepreneur,’ ‘Health Outreach,’ and ‘Legal Gathering.’

ONDO STATES GOVERNMENT TO POWER PUBLIC HOSPITAL WITH SOLAR ENERGY

  The  Office of the Public Utilities ( OPU) in Ondo State says it has concluded plans to power the 23 general hospitals in  the state  with solar energy. FG will address various grievances in Nigeria – Osinbajo

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday assured Nigerians that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would address all grievances in the country. Osinbajo, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, stated this during his interaction with leaders from the North, Southeast and the media. The meeting took place between June 13 and June 22. The acting President also urged that such grievances be expressed with grace. Police declare senator as deserter

•Misau denies allegation The police yesterday declared Senator Isa Misau, a former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), as a deserter from the force. Police spokesman Jimoh Moshood, who addressed a news conference in Abuja, called on other security agencies to step into the matter with the police deserter. How Nigeria can overcome global HIV cases in children – NASCP

Nigeria requires a number of measures to overcome her global HIV infection in children under the age of fifteen. Winners of the keenly contested Spelling Bee Competition, Miss Zuffon Bukola and Miss Rosemary Ogidan, One-Day  Governor , Deputy Gover of Lagos State have awarded a full scholarship as well as N1million each by the State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode. $14.1b forex deals attract investors

Foreign investors’ confidence in the economy is rising. The feat is attributed to the $14.1 billion combined foreign exchange (forex) deals from the Investors’ & Exporters’ FX Window – I&E FX Window- and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN’s) weekly dollar interventions,  The Nation  has learnt. The I&E FX Window has since April attracted $7.6 billion foreign investors’ cash into the economy. The CBN has injected nearly $6.5 billion into the economy within the period to settle forex obligations mainly at the retail end of the market. Last week, the CBN, in its drive to sustain the improved dollar liquidity, injected $100 million into the Secondary Market Intervention Sales (SMIS) for spot and short tenored forwards not exceeding 60 days. The forex rates across all segments traded within a tight band. At the official market, the naira opened at N305.70/$1 and closed at N305.80/$1 due to daily interventions by the CBN. ELON MUSK: SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM X (FORMERLY TWITTER) MAY OPERATE BEHIND A PAYWALL

  Elon Musk has suggested that all users of X, formerly called Twitter, may have to pay for access to the platform. In a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the billionaire said a payment system was the only way to counter bots. "We're moving to having a small monthly payment for use of the system," the Tesla and SpaceX boss said. The BBC approached X for further details but has not yet received a statement from the company. It is unclear whether this was just an off-the-cuff comment, or a signal of firmer plans that have yet to be announced.
