A constellation of Kenyan artists, comprising Bensoul, Savara (of Sauti Sol fame), Nviiri The Storyteller, Fathermoh, Ndovu Kuu, Maandy, and Jovial, come together in the stunning musical collaboration "Tujengane." The English translation of the song title, "Tujengane," is "Let's Build Together," which sums up the message of harmony, cooperation, and support for one another.

The song emphasizes the value of uniting as a society to celebrate life, regardless of one's financial situation, obstacles at work, or other difficulties in life. This song exhorts listeners to put aside their disagreements and difficulties in order to work together to accomplish more than they could separately.

Governors, security agents work out solution to IPOB

There is a consensus that the military operations in some parts in Abia State must not be allowed to plunge the country into chaos. As part of efforts to douse the tension, Southeast governors are meeting today and an emergency security meeting will be held in Jos. Criminal charges laid over Hillsborough disaster

Britain's state prosecution service has announced that criminal charges will be laid against six people over the 1989 Hillsborough football stadium disaster. A total of 96 Liverpool fans died as the result of a crowd crush during an FA Cup semi-final at the Sheffield ground. David Duckenfield, a former senior officer who was in charge of police operations at Hillsborough on the day of the disaster, has been charged with the manslaughter by gross negligence of 95 men, women and children. He has not been not charged over the 96th casualty, who died four years after the disaster, because of legal time limits in force at the time. The other five people charged included other police officers, a lawyer who acted for the police, and a stadium safety officer. Charges include perverting the course of justice, contravening safety regulations and misconduct in public office.

Ogun govt calls for synergy among council chiefs

The Ogun State government has urged chairmen of local government areas, local council development areas (LCDAs) and Consultative Advisory Committee (CAC) to maintain a harmonious relationship that will enable the councils develop. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, spoke at an interactive meeting with local government chieftains at the Obas’ Complex Hall in Abeokuta, the state capital. It was a follow-up to an earlier parley with Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Ojuko said the meeting was an avenue to straighten rough edges with the various stakeholders, discuss challenges and proffer solutions to various challenges. The Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Forum has thrown its weight behind governorship zoning to Ekiti South to ensure equity, justice and fair play among the three senatorial districts. This formed the kernel of a forum organized by a group, Itesiwaju Ekiti, a political platform of a former member of the House of Representatives and a governorship aspirant, Hon. Bamidele Faparusi, in Ode-Ekiti, headquarters of Gbonyin Local Government Area. Members of the group had an interface with the APC elders where they canvassed the need to support Ekiti South’s desire to produce the next governor, for the first time in the history of the state since it was created, almost 21 years ago. Senate seeks suspension of new health centres

•Fed Govt told to present details of funding Senate has ordered the suspension of Federal Government’s plan to build new primary health centres in each of the wards across the country. The upper chamber asked relevant agencies involved in the building plan to furnish it with details offunding of the project. The Senate Committee on Primary Health and Communicable Diseases, which handed the suspension, said it was obvious that the project was not viable now due to paucity of fund. The committee chairman,Mao Ohuabunwa, at a meeting with officials of the agency, said funding of such policy would be a problem now. The committee noted that the said multi-billion naira project was not captured in the 2017 budget. The committee said the N3 million provided for each of the existing primary health centres in the 2016 budget barely paid the salaries of the health personnel in some local governments. ‘Give widows 5% social investment funds’

As the world celebrates International Widows Day (IWD), a non-governmental organisation, Helpline Foundation for the Needy, Abuja has advocated 5 percent of the federal government Social Investment Programme funds to be dedicated to widows to address the poverty and injustice they and their children face.
