A Lagos High Court in Igbosere on Thursday dismissed a motion by the Executive Director of Lekki Gardens Estate Limited, Mr. Sola Olumofe, seeking to quash the criminal charges filed against him and others by the Lagos State Government over the collapse of a building in Lekki area of the state on March 10, 2016. Olumofe, the Managing Director of Lekki Gardens, Richard Nyong and others are arraigned before Justice Sybil Nwaka on charges of negligence. Other defendants are – Odofin Henry Taiwo, Omolabake Mortune, Omotilewa Oluwatosin Joseph, Lekki Gardens, Get Too Rich Investment Limited and HC Insight Solution Limited. Olumofe, through his lawyer, George Oguntade (SAN,) had urged the court to quash the charges against him because the prosecution has not established a prima facie case against him. The All Progressives Congress ( APC ) Oyo State chapter, says the on-going re-alignment of forces by the opposition political players in the state ahead of the 2019 gubernatorial election would fail. This was contained in a statement by Mr Olawale Sadare, the party’s Public Relations Officer in Ibadan on Saturday. The leaderships of opposition political parties in the state, including the Accord Party, Social Democratic Party, Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party have initiated a move to regroup against the ruling APC. A former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) has filed a petition before the UN Human Rights Committee(UNHRC) against the Federal Government and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing them of threatening his life. He said the government and the anti graft agency have embarked on  unmitigated acts of persecution, intimidation, harassment, threat of deprivation right to life, unlawful interference with right to family life and livelihood as well as filing of phantom criminal charges against him. A ward winning Nigerian music icon, Ayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has  revealed that he is having health challenges and, therefore, has cancelled some of his international shows. The singer took to his Twitter page on @wizkidayo to make this known, while urging his fans to pray for him. He wrote: “Sad I’m typing this but I’ll be moving dates on my tour to get my health up. I appeal to my real fans to understand and pray with me.” NAN recalls that Wizkid had also in December 2016 announced he was taking a break from all music engagements till early 2017, after fans voiced concerns about his frail looks.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of 1004 Estates Limited, Mr. Sam Ukpong, has alleged that some home owners and residents in the high rise building are after his life. Ukpong said he has been receiving threat calls and SMS in the past few weeks to give up the estates or lose his life. The 1004 estates chief, who raised the alarm on Tuesday, said the threat was not unconnected with the forceful invasion and takeover of the estate by some residents since December 2015. He said: ‘’I have been living like a fugitive for months. It all started when they took over the estates and our facilities. ‘’They threatened to abduct my children attending American International School and I had to relocate them abroad when they attempted to make good the threat. ‘’They have run my family out of town but I have started receiving threat messages and calls to give up the business too. ‘’It is so sad that I don’t have a permanent residence again.   The Federal Government has officially reopened the D Wing of the old international terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The government aimed to alleviate flight disruptions and improve the overall efficiency of air travel. The move was part of a broader effort to address the growing challenges faced by travellers and airlines operating in Nigeria, following the sudden relocation of foreign airlines from the international terminal of the Lagos airport to an adjoining new terminal that opened in March. The reopening of the old international terminal, which had been temporarily closed for renovation, was announced by the Minister of Aviation, Mr Festus Keyamo, on Monday. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday assured Nigerians that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would address all grievances in the country. Osinbajo, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, stated this during his interaction with leaders from the North, Southeast and the media. The meeting took place between June 13 and June 22. The acting President also urged that such grievances be expressed with grace.
