Ilogbo residents urge Amosun to fix road

Residents of Ilogbo and its environs have urged Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun to fix the road from Love bus stop (Tipper Garage) on Atan-Idiroko Road, leading to Ilogbo.
Their spokesman, Mr. Clement Ade Eleyinmi, said the road had become a death trap.
He said: “We thank Governor Amosun for developing Ogun State. But some areas have been neglected. They don’t have good roads and other basic amenities, such as hospitals, police stations, markets, filling stations, etc.
“Ilogbo and neighbouring towns and villages are neglected. Our road is in a deplorable condition. The Community Development Association (CDA) is appealing to our amiable and hardworking governor to send his representatives to inspect this road, in order to repair it. We pray that your tenure will end successfully.”

Wife’s sexual recklessness, infidelity crashes 23-year marriage

A Igando Customary Court in Lagos, on Thursday dissolved a 23-year-old marriage, after efforts to reconcile the couple failed. The case was brought to the court by the husband, Mr Tunji Oyedele, who accused his wife of adultery, engaging in fetish activities and attempting to kill him. The wife, Romoke, a 40-year-old trader, who denied the allegations, told the court that the man was sending her away because he now has a new wife. Homes submerged in Lagos, Suleja, Ibadan Ikoyi, Lekki, others thrown into darkness Floods hit many Nigerian cities after long hours of rainfall at the weekend. There were deaths. Homes were  flooded. Eleven people died in Suleja and other towns in Niger State. Many parts of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, were flooded. Residents of highbrow Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah in Lagos were yesterday waiting for the floods to recede. They were warned to vacate the flood-prone area because of the expected intense rains. Many parts of Lagos Island have been thrown into darkness because the floods soaked power facilities. Niger State was worst hit by the floods after five hours of rainfall. Taiwan to order Nigerian office to leave Taipei

Taiwan  will tell the Nigerian trade office to move out of Taipei in a reciprocal move, following the action taken by Abuja against Taipei, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday. The ministry recalled the January order by the federal government that Taiwan should move its office from Abuja, change the name of the office — the Trade Mission of Republic of China (Taiwan) in the federal capital — and cut the number of staff in the office. It also demanded on March 31 that Morgan Chao, director of the trade office, leave the country, saying that it could not guarantee his safety. Chao has since returned to Taiwan. Nigeria then sent military personnel on June 30 to seal off the trade office and forced the staff to leave. The ministry has lodged a serious protest and expressed deep regret over the matter, it said. While working on it, I was trying to paint a scenario where a guy is trying to impress an independent woman. Ogun govt calls for synergy among council chiefs

The Ogun State government has urged chairmen of local government areas, local council development areas (LCDAs) and Consultative Advisory Committee (CAC) to maintain a harmonious relationship that will enable the councils develop. Revealed: Security advises against arrest of Northern youths

Following security advice, there were indications yesterday that the Presidency is weighing options on how to tackle the Coalition of Northern Youths and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for the actualization of the Republic of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Security agencies, sources said yesterday, have advised the Federal Government to embrace dialogue and give the two groups final warning instead of arrest, outright crackdown and revocation of Kanu’s bail. Lawyers: IPOB’s funding can be blocked diplomatically

Lawyers yesterday said the federal government can block the funding of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) through diplomatic means. The government had said IPOB gets its funding from France, which it described as the group’s international headquarters. But France denied having anything to do with the secessionist group. Director-General of West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), Prof. Akpan Ekpo, urged the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) to track financial flows to IPOB. He said the agency should work closely with all core regulators of financial, other-financial institutions, designated non- financial businesses and professions to ensure that funding for IPOB is blocked.
