George delighted with Rangers’ win

Ifeanyi George is delighted his goal secured a win for Enugu Rangers over Oriental rivals, FC IfeanyiUbah on Wednesday.
“First, I am happy that we won because that’s most important thing in this match. Secondly, I am happy to have scored and I hope to continue this way,” George told Goal.
“I think hard work has paid off, I’ve been in the team since the first round even though I couldn’t play till the second round,  I saw some things that were lacking in the team and I needed to work on myself and thank God it has helped and we are scoring goals.
“It feels good that we’ve gone five-match unbeaten, the team is in a very good form now and I pray it continues like this till the end of the league.
“We have moved up on the log and [it is important we] continue to win games week in, week out.  If we go 10 matches now without dropping any point then we can go much further this season,” he concluded.

Senate gives NPA four days for information on 282 missing vessels

The Senate on Thursday, gave the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Usman, four days to explain the whereabouts of over 282 vessels allegedly missing from the sea ports. Sen. Hope Uzodinma, Chairman, Senate’s Joint Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff and Marine Transport, gave the ultimatum in Abuja, at an investigative hearing on N30 trillion lost through leakages in Customs and other agencies. Uzodinma, who expressed displeasure with the managing director for not honouring the committee’s two previous invitations, said the information on the vessels was imperative and must be available within four days. NIMC chief faults identification system

NATIONAL Identity Management Commission (NIMC)  Director-General, Aliyu Aziz, has faulted the identification system, arguing that it cannot foster economic growth. Impact of $3b bond on debt ’ll be modest

T he Federal Government’s plan to issue USD3 billion worth of foreign bonds of up to three years maturity to refinance maturing naira-denominated treasury bills, if approved, will have a modest impact on broad debt sustainability indicators, experts at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC Nigeria) have said. In line with Federal Government’s debt management strategy to rebalance its debt portfolio for domestic and foreign debt, from the current 69 per cent: 3 1 per cent to a targeted 60per cent: 40 per cent, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) recently approved a plan to issue USD3 billion worth of foreign bonds of up to three years maturity to refinance maturing naira-denominated treasury bills. $2.1b arms scandal: Fleeing ex-governor loses choice hotel in Singapore to mistress

Homes submerged in Lagos, Suleja, Ibadan Ikoyi, Lekki, others thrown into darkness Floods hit many Nigerian cities after long hours of rainfall at the weekend. There were deaths. Homes were  flooded. Eleven people died in Suleja and other towns in Niger State. Many parts of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, were flooded. Residents of highbrow Victoria Island, Lekki and Ajah in Lagos were yesterday waiting for the floods to recede. They were warned to vacate the flood-prone area because of the expected intense rains.
