Quickie make-up tips

FOR that smartly done and perfect make-up, there are some quickie steps to follow. And the truth is that you don’t have to spend ages getting these steps right. These cosmetic tips will help you to avoid errors and finish up within minutes.
Lipstick
First apply a lip balm to lips before starting your make-up schedule. By the time you have done your eyes and the rest of the face, your lips will be moisturized and ready for the lipstick.
Nail polish
Is your nail polish from the last season too thick? Chances are the polish has begun to thicken at the bottom of the bottle. Add a bit of nail polish thinner to the bottle.
For a glow foundation, get a gel or cream blushes to create a more natural and healthy look. Instead of going for a normal powder, get a cream powder. It is more visible and blends smoothly when rubbed on the face. Rub it on both cheeks. For a glowing complexion, make upward movement towards the eye.
Mascara before curling your lashes
Heat the curler with a hair dryer for a few seconds. Test to make sure it is not too hot, and then apply to eyelashes. The heat will lock in the curl on extra long eyelashes. Gently apply a lean of mascara just up to the lashes, so as to avoid blotching. Then, run an eyelash brush through the lashes to prevent caking mascara build-up.
Pencil
Place eye and lip pencil in the freezer for twenty minutes before sharpening it. This will harden it a bit and it would not break when sharpened.
Eyeliner
Instead of regular eyeliner pencil, go for a liquid liner to prevent smudging in the pleat of the lid. Liquid liner does not stain as easily as the regular ones.
Concealer
The concealer is also a great eye brightener; it feels soft, smooth and silky. It adds a touch of hydration to the under eyes area which can tend to be dry for most people. It covers dark circles adequately without caking and creasing.

Senate gives NPA four days for information on 282 missing vessels

The Senate on Thursday, gave the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Usman, four days to explain the whereabouts of over 282 vessels allegedly missing from the sea ports. Sen. Hope Uzodinma, Chairman, Senate’s Joint Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff and Marine Transport, gave the ultimatum in Abuja, at an investigative hearing on N30 trillion lost through leakages in Customs and other agencies. Uzodinma, who expressed displeasure with the managing director for not honouring the committee’s two previous invitations, said the information on the vessels was imperative and must be available within four days. He threatened that the senate may be compelled to pursue a financial crime case against Usman should he fail to heed the committee’s directive. “We are looking for these vessels. Pensioners condemn agitations for breakup

THE Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) has asked those agitating for the country’s break up to stop and join hands with the government to promote unity. The union appealed to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for the payment of the outstanding 18 months of 33  per cent pension arrears following the signing of the budget. In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Elder Actor Zal, the union praised the Federal Government for this month’s prompt payment of pensions to pensioners. Rivers East district has no senator, says Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said Rivers East has no senator. He spoke yesterday at  a Thanksgiving Service for Senator George Thompson Sekibo, at the St Thomas Anglican Church in Diobu. Sekibo was sacked from the National Assembly by the Court of Appeal last week. He accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of destroying key national institutions. Wike said following APC’s negative governance style, the police and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have metamorphosed into rigging machines threatening the peace of the country. Amnesty trained 14,366 ex-agitators, says Boroh

The Coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Brig.-Gen. Paul Boroh has said about 14,366 ex-agitators were trained in the programme. Gen. Boroh spoke at News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja, yesterday. He explained their capacities has been developed in agriculture, automobile engineering, and aviation, with a further look at the sports sector. “As we speak, we have trained over 5,000 in education-capacity development, and over 22, 000 in skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development.” He said the programme granted amnesty to 30,000 ex-agitators of Niger Delta. Minister: skilled ICT manpower gap widening

The Minister of Communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu, has lamented the widening gap in skilled manpower in the information communication technology (ICT) sector in the country. He said expatriates have virtually taken over the tech space in the country. Shittu, who spoke at the inauguration of an Implementation Committee on the proposed ICT University of Nigeria, in Abuja,  said it has become imperative to have the university to leapfrog the country into a digital economy.
