I’ve nothing to do with IPOB – Pete Edochie


Going by the recent issue of the state, on the matter of Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), legendary actor Pete Edochie, has issued out a warning to those linking him to calls by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, saying people of Anambra State should boycott the upcoming governorship election in the state.
The actor who was reacting to a viral message on Whatsapp that alleged that he wants people of Anambra State to boycott the upcoming election.
“I just returned from Port-Harcourt yesterday and my attention has been drawn to a publication on WhatsApp allegedly credited to me in respect of IPOB and the call to boycott elections in Anambra,” he declared, according to a story on Ghanaweb.com.
“A lot of nonsense has been ascribed to me in the past and I have maintained my peace. Now I am very angry. Let me warn. I don’t want to place a curse on anybody, but those who know me will tell you that if I curse it come to pass, I am 70 years old.”
The ‘Things Fall Apart’ actor also wrote the telephone number which he said the message emanated from.

ROYAL SOCIETY AIMS TO BOOST NUMBER OF BLACK SCIENTISTS

  Young black scientists will get sizeable grants towards cutting-edge research in a pilot scheme aimed at increasing their numbers in the field. Five scientists a year will get up to £690,000 spread over four years. The Royal Society, which represents the UK's leading researchers, hopes its grants increase low numbers of black scientists, particularly in research. The fellowships  should allow the recipients to work in any of the country's research institutes. It will also mentor the scientists and help with career networking. Royal Society President Prof Sir Adrian Smith told BBC News that the low numbers of black scientists in the UK was "unacceptable". Police kill robber for shooting DPO

Two members of a robbery gang that opened fire on the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ogbere Division, Adeyinka Akingbade, have been arrested by operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Ogun State. The Nation  learnt that Adeyinka was injured by the suspects when he and a team of policemen responded to a distress call that robbers invaded a hotel in Itele-Ijebu. The suspects ambushed him and shot him at close range. Spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement that Police Commissioner Ahmed Iliyasu, on getting a report on the shooting, directed FSARS, led by Uba Adam, to arrest the hoodlums. MohBad’s Management Announces Candlelight Procession For The Late Singer

  The management of Promise Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad has announced a candlelight procession and tribute in honour of the late singer. The announcement was made on Mohbad’s X handle on Monday, few minutes before midnight. A flyer was shared with the details of the event which is expected to hold on Thursday, September 21 at 5pm. The candlelight procession is expected to commence from Lekki Phase 1 Gate and terminate at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos. Nigeria loses N80 billion annually due to road accidents, Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole said in Friday. FG will address various grievances in Nigeria – Osinbajo

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday assured Nigerians that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would address all grievances in the country. Osinbajo, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, stated this during his interaction with leaders from the North, Southeast and the media. The meeting took place between June 13 and June 22. The acting President also urged that such grievances be expressed with grace. Mendy Signs For Lorient After Being Cleared Of Rape

  Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has signed for Ligue 1 side Lorient five days after being cleared of rape. The left-back, 29, whose City contract expired in the summer, has signed a two-year deal with the French club. Amnesty trained 14,366 ex-agitators, says Boroh

The Coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Brig.-Gen. Paul Boroh has said about 14,366 ex-agitators were trained in the programme. Gen. Boroh spoke at News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja, yesterday. He explained their capacities has been developed in agriculture, automobile engineering, and aviation, with a further look at the sports sector. “As we speak, we have trained over 5,000 in education-capacity development, and over 22, 000 in skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development.” He said the programme granted amnesty to 30,000 ex-agitators of Niger Delta.
