WOW: P-square’s Paul Okoye welcomes twins

Paul Okoye, one of the identical twins and R&B Nigerian singers P-square, has announced that he is now a father to a set of twins.
The elated singer took to his Instagram page to announce that his wife, Anita Okoye, on Sunday gave birth to a boy and a girl.
He wrote:”God!! Na me be dis!!?
“What else can I say. God we thank you; now the house is complete, full house soon.”
The couple, who had their first child, Andre in 2013, named their twins Nathan and Nadia.
Paul reportedly met Anita in 2004 while attending the University of Abuja, and they got married in March 2014, after courting for almost a decade.

175 Nigerians ‘voluntarily’ return from Libya

Another batch of One Hundred and Seventy-five (175) Nigerians voluntarily returned from Libya on Tuesday aboard a chartered Nouvelair aircraft with registration number TS-INA. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the aircraft landed at 7.50p.m at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The returnees were made up of of 34 males, 122 females, 10 children and nine infants. They were brought back by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Nigerian Embassy in Libya. The returnees were received at the Hajj Camp area of the airport by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Police. FRSC deploys 33,000 personnel for Sallah

The Federal Road Safety Corps has approved the deployment of 33,000 regular and special marshals, 859 patrol vehicles, 106 ambulances, 267 motorbikes and 22 tow trucks for the 2017 Eid-el-kabir celebrations. This is to address wrong road usage by motorists which results in a high number of crashes during festivities. The Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, emphasized that the operation will focus on traffic control, speeding, dangerous driving/overtaking, clearance of road obstructions, seatbelt use violation, zero tolerance for use of telephone while driving, lane indiscipline and route violation among others as these have been identified as reoccurring factors of Road Traffic Crashes. Police arrest 100 suspected robbers, others in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command yesterday paraded 100 suspected criminals for alleged robbery, child trafficking and cultism. Following increased criminal activities across the state, Police Commissioner Garba Baba Umar warned vehicle owners to stop covering their number plates and avoid using sirens. The police said the suspects were arrested at Nnewi, Awada in Onitsha, Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area as well as Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area. Some of the items recovered from them included charms, AK-47 rifles, locally-made pistols, machetes, axes, live cartridges, pump action guns and six rounds of 9mm live ammunitions. Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters party (EFF) said 60 African National Congress (ANC) members in South Africa’s parliament will back a no-confidence vote against President Jacob Zuma if the ballot is secret. Amnesty trained 14,366 ex-agitators, says Boroh

The Coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Brig.-Gen. Paul Boroh has said about 14,366 ex-agitators were trained in the programme. Gen. Boroh spoke at News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja, yesterday. He explained their capacities has been developed in agriculture, automobile engineering, and aviation, with a further look at the sports sector. “As we speak, we have trained over 5,000 in education-capacity development, and over 22, 000 in skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development.” He said the programme granted amnesty to 30,000 ex-agitators of Niger Delta. Oral sex producing unstoppable bacteria - WHO

Oral sex is producing dangerous gonorrhoea and a decline in condom use is helping it to spread, the World Health Organization says. It is warning that if you contract gonorrhoea, it is now much harder to treat and in some cases impossible. The sexually transmitted infection is rapidly developing resistance to antibiotics. Experts said the situation was "fairly grim" with few new drugs on the horizon. Around 78 million people pick up the STI each year and it can cause infertility. The World Health Organization (WHO) analysed data from 77 countries and it showed gonorrhoea's resistance to antibiotics was widespread. Dr Teodora Wi said there had even been three cases - in Japan, France and Spain - where the infection was completely untreatable. "Gonorrhoea is a very smart bug, every time you introduce a new class of antibiotics to treat gonorrhoea, the bug becomes resistant," she said. Minister: skilled ICT manpower gap widening

The Minister of Communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu, has lamented the widening gap in skilled manpower in the information communication technology (ICT) sector in the country. He said expatriates have virtually taken over the tech space in the country. Shittu, who spoke at the inauguration of an Implementation Committee on the proposed ICT University of Nigeria, in Abuja,  said it has become imperative to have the university to leapfrog the country into a digital economy. The Committee has six weeks to submit its report so that the university can begin academic activities in the next session.
