Bride dies 10 days after wedding


A NEWLY-married lady, Zainab Sodangi has allegedly died ten days after she exchanged marital vows with her husband, Salim Sondagi.
The couple’s wedding took place amid fanfare on August 29 in Abuja.
It was learnt that Zainab was not sick, but suddenly died after she complained of feeling tired.
Sources said she was enjoying the company of some visitors at her Abuja residence when they suddenly noticed that she was no longer breathing where she was seated.
A source said: ” She was not sick at all. She was full of life and she played with everyone around. She sat down on a chair and died a few minutes later where she was seated to the surprise of everyone around.
One of her associates on his instagram handle described her as humble, caring and fun- to-be-with.

FRSC deploys 33,000 personnel for Sallah

The Federal Road Safety Corps has approved the deployment of 33,000 regular and special marshals, 859 patrol vehicles, 106 ambulances, 267 motorbikes and 22 tow trucks for the 2017 Eid-el-kabir celebrations. This is to address wrong road usage by motorists which results in a high number of crashes during festivities. The Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, emphasized that the operation will focus on traffic control, speeding, dangerous driving/overtaking, clearance of road obstructions, seatbelt use violation, zero tolerance for use of telephone while driving, lane indiscipline and route violation among others as these have been identified as reoccurring factors of Road Traffic Crashes. Police arrest 100 suspected robbers, others in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command yesterday paraded 100 suspected criminals for alleged robbery, child trafficking and cultism. Following increased criminal activities across the state, Police Commissioner Garba Baba Umar warned vehicle owners to stop covering their number plates and avoid using sirens. The police said the suspects were arrested at Nnewi, Awada in Onitsha, Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area as well as Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area. Some of the items recovered from them included charms, AK-47 rifles, locally-made pistols, machetes, axes, live cartridges, pump action guns and six rounds of 9mm live ammunitions. NIMC chief faults identification system

NATIONAL Identity Management Commission (NIMC)  Director-General, Aliyu Aziz, has faulted the identification system, arguing that it cannot foster economic growth. To him, only the National Identification Number (NIN) has the key to the realisation of the Economic Growth and Recovery Plan (EGRP) of the government. Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters party (EFF) said 60 African National Congress (ANC) members in South Africa’s parliament will back a no-confidence vote against President Jacob Zuma if the ballot is secret. Homes submerged in Lagos, Suleja, Ibadan Ikoyi, Lekki, others thrown into darkness Floods hit many Nigerian cities after long hours of rainfall at the weekend. There were deaths. Homes were  flooded. Eleven people died in Suleja and other towns in Niger State. Many parts of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, were flooded.
